FRESHMAN ACADEMY
The Freshman Academy was specifically designed to create an environment that would support freshmen as they enter high school and help prepare them for the career based Small Learning Communities and rigorous classroom activities required in the upper grades. It aims to help students define and achieve their academic goals by preparing them for graduation, college, and careers. A team of dedicated teachers use similar course work, teaching strategies, and expectations to ensure students experience a smooth transition from elementary school to high school.
The High School Success course emphasizes the personal and academic habits needed for academic success including: study skills, communication, use of school resources, and much more. It also focuses on the types of analytical and objective writing needed in today’s work force. The course ends in a culminating research paper and presentation relating to Cesar Chavez career paths.
